How the Events Side of MindFlix Films Found Its Voice

Every part of a business has its own origin story. For MindFlix Films, the corporate and brand film side started with a client one week before COVID shut everything down. But the wedding and events side? That story started with a partnership.

How It Began

When the world reopened after the pandemic, weddings came back with a vengeance. Couples who had postponed, downsized, or put their dreams on hold were finally ready to celebrate — and they wanted to do it fully.

My wife Maira had been building Maira Ochoa Photography for years, documenting weddings, quinceañeras, and family celebrations with her signature warm and attentive style. As we started working events together, something became clear — couples weren't just looking for a photographer. They wanted the full story. They wanted to hear the vows again. They wanted to relive the first dance. They wanted to see their grandmother's face when they walked down the aisle.

That's where I came in.

Building Toward a Reel

Over time, working alongside Maira at event after event, I accumulated enough wedding and celebration footage to see what our combined work could look like — the full photo-and-video experience delivered by a husband-and-wife team that genuinely understood both sides of the story.

By 2022, I had enough under my belt to put together this first wedding reel — a showcase of the cinematic, story-driven approach I bring to every celebration we document together.

It wasn't just a highlight reel. It was the formal launch of this side of MindFlix Films.

What This Reel Represents

The 2022 Wedding Reel captures the range of celebrations we were documenting — weddings across Chicago and the surrounding area, each one different in venue, culture, and energy, but all sharing the same thing at their core: people choosing each other in front of everyone they love.

Our approach was always the same. We weren't there to direct or stage — we were there to witness and preserve. The quiet moments before the ceremony. The laughter during speeches. The first dance when the rest of the room fades away.

Real moments, told cinematically.

A Bilingual Team Rooted in Culture

As a bilingual, first-generation Latino husband-and-wife team, we bring something to celebrations that goes beyond technical skill. We understand the cultural weight of a quinceañera. We feel the significance of a wedding that blends two families, two traditions, or two languages into one day.

That cultural awareness shows up in every frame.
