Strength in Every Story: A Brand Film for TruFitness
Not every project starts with a direct client call. Sometimes the best work comes from collaboration — being brought in by another production company to contribute your skills to something bigger.
That's exactly how this one came together.
The Project
I was hired by an outside production company to capture an interview and B-roll for TruFitness — a strength-based training studio in the Chicago suburbs focused on empowering women to build muscle, confidence, and long-term health.
My role was focused: capture the interview well, get compelling B-roll of the gym environment, and deliver footage that would serve their broader marketing strategy. But while I was there, I saw an opportunity to do something more.
Using the footage I captured, I put together a quick demo reel — a proof of concept showing what's possible for even the smallest of businesses when the right storytelling approach is applied.
Why This Matters for Small Business Owners
TruFitness isn't a massive corporate gym. It's an owner-operated studio with a deeply personal mission — built around the belief that strength training isn't just about looks, it's about energy, confidence, and aging well on your own terms.
That kind of story deserves to be told well. And the truth is, you don't need a massive production budget to tell it. What you need is someone who knows how to find the story in what already exists — the owner's passion, the gym's energy, the transformation happening inside those walls every day.
This demo reel is proof of that. A focused interview, purposeful B-roll, and intentional editing can produce something that makes a potential client feel something before they ever walk through the door.
What We Focused On
Even as a subcontractor on this project, our approach was the same as always — find the humanity first.
We captured:
The owner speaking authentically about her mission and philosophy
The energy and atmosphere of the gym environment
The details that make TruFitness different from a typical weight-loss gym — the community, the coaching, the culture
Every frame was chosen to make the viewer feel what it would be like to train there.
A Note for Small Business Owners
If you run a gym, a studio, a wellness practice, or any small business in the Chicago area and the Midwest, you don't need to wait until you have a big budget to invest in video. A single focused shoot can produce content that works on your website, your social media, and in every sales conversation you have.
Your story is worth telling. Let's find the right way to tell it.
